//Letters of Change

So I watched the Helvetica documentary awhile back and ever since I've been infatuated with typefaces. I had always loved typefaces, but I found that the film gave me a new found zeal for them.
Shortly after watching the film I was commissioned to come up with a graphic for a local church in St. Joseph, MO. The only thing I was told was that it was for a sermon series for the seven letters to the seven churches John wrote in the book of Revelations. The easy part was coming up with a name. I quickly came up with the title "Letters of Change." The hard part was trying to find a way to communicate this graphically. I thought of cell phones, text messaging, emails, etc., but all of them seemed too cheesy and didn't really work with what I was trying to do.
Then the documentary hit me right upside the head. Why not represent letters the best way they can....with letters. I started working on a completely text based graphic. After some gigantic hits and misses I came up with the finished product. It may not be the most flashy graphic or even a "professional" graphic, but the more I do graphic design the more I realize that your graphics don't mean anything if they don't convey their message properly.
The basic message of the final graphic is that in today's world you have so many messages that are flying around your head that are trying to tell you how you should live your life. They all say that if you change your life and live it like they live theirs then you will be happy. But there is only one message that comes through that is entirely different than the rest. Only one message that can truly tell us how we can be happy. With one simply change in our lives we can have greater happiness than everyone else's combined.

Well, after starting this thing a year ago I finally got around to launching the new version of my site. I always want this place to represent where I am graphically and I didn't feel like the old look really did that anymore.
I also felt like the old site had TOO much stuff. The last version was originally done for a school project and as a sample for getting a job. I've gotten the job and I finished school so there wasn't a need for all the stuff that was on the old site. Now I just want this to be a site for any potential clients I may do work for.
I think I've gotten enough finished to make it live, but I'll probably still be making a few tweaks here and there.
